USE* engaged to deliver Reman review

29/6/2010

USE* has been invited by a prestigious OEM client to review its current processes towards remanufacture with a view to capitalising on opportunities going forward.

Remanufacturing/re-use means that an OEM gathers used parts and materials from the market-place, and reconstitutes them so that they can be sold back into the market as new or as better-than new. Up to now this tends to be a reactive measure, responding to circumstantial factors such as prohibitive import/export costs in a given market, or the obsolescence of a given part’s manufacture as a spare part.

USE* aims to move consideration for remanufacture upstream: designing a part to be remanufactured or re-used saves money because reactive remanufacturing strategies won’t necessarily present optimal costs. Our early steps led us into discussions at a prestigious automotive OEM client who have responded positively.

USE* have been invited to conduct a consultative exercise reviewing our customer’s current processes and initiatives towards remanufacture and Design for Remanufacture (DfRM) with a view to outlining how processes can be shaped to deliver a much greater commercial benefit from reman going forward.
