USE* develop Standards for Workshop Manual Creation

7/7/2009

Finding further efficiencies within USE* clients’ workshop manual production processes, USE* Publications have created an Authoring Standards Manual and deployed it to support their work for a prestigious OEM client.

In their continual search to improve methods and save time and money for their clients, the USE* Publications team have created an Authoring Standards Manual, compliant with ISO9001 standards, to streamline the creation of workshop manual technical documentation.

Developed for application with a particular OEM client, the manual includes lists of structured language text strings that the authors must use in their procedures to describe operations. Coupled with the implementation of USE* IT’s Service Repair Times Database Portal tool for this client’s creation of publications information, the manual guarantees fast integration of data and totally consistent styles of working across the technical authoring team. It also reduces translation costs through the use of common phrases in every procedure and acts as an excellent training guide, giving new starters a great base to start authoring from.
