Design for Roadside Repair

21/11/2008

Working with a prestigious OEM client, UK Service Evolution has identified opportunities for reducing warranty expenditure through optimising designs with a focus on roadside repair.

Call outs for breakdowns and roadside repairs are claimed against warranty. These claims can be expensive for OEMs as in a number of cases vehicles cannot be repaired at the side of the road and have to be recovered to a dealer. This results in the cost of not only the call out, but the recovery and potentially a courtesy car for the customer while their vehicle is being repaired.

UK Service Evolution has kicked off a project with a prestigious OEM client to expand the number of repair operations that can be carried out on a vehicle at the side of the road. The result will be a higher frequency of simpler roadside repairs, commensurate customer satisfaction, and a reduction the number of warranty claims that our client will see when the vehicle is in production. A further benefit is that our client’s roadside recovery agents will require fewer parts and tools to support call outs - another cost saving.
