Design for Service moves into Concept Engineering

7/2/2008

UK Service Evolution has formalised extending its SERP Design for Serviceability support into advanced concept design processes with a prestigious automotive OEM client.

UK Service Evolution’s vision for serviceability in design, supported by its SERP (Service Evaluation and Repair Process) offering, has taken a step upstream with one of UKSE’s prestigious automotive clients. This consulting and design analysis support assesses emerging designs for viable and cost-effective serviceability. The resulting shorter repair times are in turn a key driver for lower warranty expenditure in the future.

Up to now this support has in essence focused on the emerging vehicle package. Recently UK Service Evolution and their client have formalised extending this support to include input into the very early concept and layout stages of product design. This earlier engagement will allow serviceability experts from UK Service Evolution to work with their client in assessing and influencing the serviceability impact of different and early design proposals, including systems development independent to vehicle development, in terms of minimising potential warranty cost implications.
