Working with a prestigious automotive OEM client, a team of UK Service Evolution engineers have recently assisted in the commissioning of new Virtual Reality Laboratories.

Virtual Reality laboratories allow a user to interact with a full-scale 3D CAD digital model of a vehicle in a similar way to interacting with a real vehicle; VR Labs are as close as it’s possible to get to working on a vehicle before the vehicle has ever been built.

In order to assist one client choose and commission VR lab toolsets, UK Service Evolution engineers presented a number of working environments and example studies to support planned verification actions. Working with our customer’s VR Lab team, the environments and exercises were used to validate the capabilities of the tools considered by UKSE’s client.

USE* SERP engineers make use of VR laboratory technology on a routine basis, particularly for the validation of ergonomic considerations such visibility and lines of sight as well as hand and tool access. These facilities also provide additional withdrawal path validation capabilities and the option to manually manipulate 3D CAD representations of target components within the constraints of the package environment.
